Arsenal are expecting to receive offers for Mikel Arteta's assistant, Carlos Cuesta, at the end of the season, according to the Guardian.

The 28-year-old joined Arteta's team from Juventus in 2020 and is now rated as one of the top young coaches in the sport.

Despite having an important role at the Emirates Stadium, his head could be turned by the idea of his first managerial position.

The Gunners believe that Championship clubs will come calling in the summer, with Norwich City set to be among them.

The Canaries' sporting director, Ben Knapper, was the north London club's loan manager before moving to Carrow Road in November.

This link could see Cuesta take the job ahead of the 2024-25, assuming David Wagner is sacked.

Norwich are currently just outside of the playoff places, which is underwhelming for fans that are so used to promotion.

Cuesta's remit would be to take them to the Premier League, and to keep them there for the first time in over a decade.

Arteta in Arsenal contract talks

Arsenal are currently in contract talks with manager Mikel Arteta, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.

Arteta last signed a new deal with the club in 2022 but the ongoing success of the Spaniard has led the Gunners board to initiate discussions to tie down the 41-year-old to fresh terms.

Arsenal’s aim is to secure a new three-year deal for the manager that will be made official before the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

FootballTransfers has been told that Arteta is in line for a pay rise following his success with the Gunners. While it is unclear exactly what he is asking for or being offered, the figure will be substantially higher than his current salary of £9.5 million.

Sources indicate that Arteta has been playing down his personal situation and the prospect of signing a new deal because he does not want the focus around him and not the team, which is in hot pursuit of the Premier League title once again.
