The biggest transfer news of Deadline Day is...Lewis Hamilton
Things may be ramping up on January Transfer Deadline Day, but the biggest transfer news story has come in the world of Formula One.
While Armando Broja may be leaving Chelsea and Crystal Palace are close to signing Blackburn Rovers wonderkid Adam Wharton in football, ground-breaking news regarding Lewis Hamilton’s future has threatened to break the internet.
The F1 star currently drives for Mercedes, but he could be set to make a sensational switch to their title-rivals Ferrari for 2025.
Hamilton, who has won a record seven World Drivers’ Championships, has a contract at Mercedes for both 2024 and 2025, but reports suggest that he could leave the team at the end of this year.
Lewis Hamilton to leave Mercedes for Ferrari?
A huge report by Italian publication Formu1a.uno suggests that Ferrari are set to make a 'sensational' bid to sign Hamilton for the 2025 season.
This has been backed up by BBC Sport, who have reported that links with Ferrari should be taken seriously, although a deal has not yet been confirmed.
Ferrari reportedly want to sign Hamilton to drive alongside the highly-rated Charles Leclerc for 2025 onwards, with Carlos Sainz set to lose his seat with the Scuderia as a result.

Sainz, the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023, has been linked with joining Audi when they enter the sport in 2026, although Ferrari junior driver Oliver Bearman had previously been touted as the most likely man to replace him.
However, Hamilton could be set to leave Mercedes and finally join Ferrari, a team he has always dreamed of driving for.
The 39-year-old has been with Mercedes since 2013 and six of his seven world titles have been won with the Silver Arrows. Despite this, he hasn’t won a race since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, with Mercedes suffering a downturn in form following regulation changes ahead of the 2022 season.
Hamilton finished third in the 2023 Drivers’ Championship, although he ended the season 341 points behind runaway leader Max Verstappen.
