Europe’s five best scorers in 2024
Dusan Vlahovic is the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues in 2024 after a brilliant start to the calendar year.
Juventus have been struggling badly in recent weeks but this has not stopped Vlahovic from regularly finding the net.
Vlahovic scored twice on Sunday in Juventus’ 3-2 win over Frosinone, taking his tally to nine league goals in 2024.
Vlahovic has scored a goal every 68 minutes in 2024, displaying the kind of form that has led to interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
No player in Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga or Ligue 1 has scored more in 2024.
Saka has managed this number from just six games for an Arsenal team who are fighting it out to win the Premier League.
Europe’s top scorers: 2024
Player | Club | Goals |
---|---|---|
Dusan Vlahovic | Juventus | 9 |
Bukayo Saka | Arsenal | 7 |
Jonathan David | Lille | 6 |
Rasmus Hojlund | Man Utd | 6 |
Niclas Fullkrug | Borussia Dortmund | 6 |
Harry Kane | Bayern Munich | 6 |
A former Arsenal target, Jonathan David, is the third highest scorer in Europe’s big five leagues with six goals in five league games.
David has found the net every 57 minutes for Lille so far in 2024 and seems certain to join a big club this summer.
Three other players in Europe’s top five leagues have found the net six times in 2024. These are Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund, Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
Arsenal tried to sign Vlahovic in January 2022 but he rejected them to join Juventus from Fiorentina, instead for €80m.
Juventus were also in negotiations with Chelsea this past summer over a swap deal involving Vlahovic and Romelu Lukaku.
However, a deal could not be agreed and Vlahovic ended up staying at Juventus for the start of the 2023-24 season.
Both English teams remain interested.
Vlahovic arrived in Turin as one of the hottest properties in world football in January 2022.
He had just scored the most goals in Serie A in a calendar year for 60 years and was posting numbers comparable to Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.
However, things have not worked out for him so smoothly in Turin - although many have blamed the negative tactics of manager Max Allegri for not getting the best out of him.
He scored just 14 goals in 42 games last season but has improved in recent months with a great start to 2024.
