Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid has been surprisingly announced by one of his France teammates.

Mbappe’s future has been subject to intense speculation for months, but in the last week it has been finally confirmed that the 25-year-old France star will leave PSG at the end of his contract in June.

While Real Madrid have long led the race to land the attacker, there has been renewed speculation that he could find himself elsewhere. In particular, Liverpool has been cited as a potential destination for the player, who previously admitted his admiration for outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp.

Unsurprisingly, then, players from the Anfield club have been subject to questions over the future of the Monaco academy product.

Following the club’s thumping 4-1 win over Brentford, Ibrahim Konate even went so far as confirming that Mbappe is Real Madrid-bound.

When asked about the possibility of Mbappe heading to Liverpool, he told French television station Canal+: “Guys, in all honesty, do you really think he’s coming here?

“We all know where Kylian is going!”

Konate lifts lid on blockbuster deal

The clear insinuation from the 24-year-old centre-back is that Mbappe is set to follow his dream in the summer to join up with Real Madrid.

There has previously been no concrete evidence of a deal from anyone close to the player, with only media speculation putting the PSG forward in Spain next season.

Konate, though, has been a teammate of Mbappe with the France national team on 13 occasions and is likely to have gotten wind of his colleague’s plan.

The news is set to disappoint Premier League fans, though the indications were that Mbappe going to Liverpool was always going to be a long shot given the club’s strict wage structure and general unwillingness to pay the type of superstar wage that the Parisian has grown used to.
