Man Utd make SHOCK move for Barcelona flop
Manchester United are making a shock move for Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen but face competition from Newcastle.
That is according to Marca, who report that Barcelona will be forced to sell the Dane this summer due to their well-publicised financial problems.
Barca need to offload a number of players to raise cash and lower their wage bill, and Christensen is one of the names chosen to be sacrificed.
Man Utd to sign Christensen?
Man Utd are in the market for at least one top centre-back in the summer as a number of their current central defenders are likely to leave in the summer.
The futures of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are in doubt as their contracts are expiring. Victor Lindelof is also available at the right price while Harry Maguire’s future is not secure either.
Lisandro Martinez is the only guarantee to stay but even the Argentine has been struck by numerous injury problems this season.
United are in pole position to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, according to our sources, but Marca reports that the Red Devils are also making a surprise move for Christensen.
🚨 Barcelona have put former Premier League stars Andreas Christensen and Raphinha up for sale as they desperately look to slash their wage bill.

The 27-year-old joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 when his contract at Stamford Bridge expired.
However, he has largely struggled to impress at Camp Nou despite Barcelona winning La Liga last term.
Indeed, this season he has been shifted into centre midfield amidst an injury crisis.
Christensen was considered a potentially world class player when he broke through at Chelsea in 2017 but in over 150 appearances for the club he never fulfilled that potential.
United already boast Christensen’s Denmark national teammates Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, and could now bring in a third Danish player.
Christensen has been capped 68 times by Denmark, scoring three goals.
