Ten Hag ready to turn massive profit on Man Utd defender
Manchester United believe that they could get double their money if Diogo Dalot were to be sold, according to a report.
The Portuguese defender has not always had the easiest of times at Man Utd since arriving as a teenager. The 24-year-old was signed during the Jose Mourinho years for €22 million in 2018 and has been a hit-and-miss performer at Old Trafford.
However, the full-back is currently enjoying a very good run of form, just as he did at times last season, which saw him rewarded with a new long-term deal to protect his value. Indeed, despite some frequent slumps, Dalot has, on the whole, been an alright signing for the Red Devils considering just how many poor transfers they have made in recent years.
This is also reflected in his value. This season, Dalot's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has exploded, now sitting at a whopping €31.5 million, just €100,000 shy of his €31.6m peak in December. Despite the Portuguese's good form, he is far from untouchable and could eventually be used to raise funds.
Man Utd's Dalot price tag
According to GIVEMESPORT, the Red Devils internally value Dalot at around €44m, meaning that they would double their money in the event of a departure. A solid but unspectacular performer, the defender could perhaps be sacrificed under the new Sir Jim Ratcliffe regime.
Man Utd are plotting a major overhaul in the summer, including in defensive areas. While the main focus will be on the centre-back position, the right-back spot has been giving Erik ten Hag headaches for a while, with neither Dalot nor Aaron Wan-Bissaka offering the kind of consistent attacking threat the Dutchman would like to see.
The Red Devils have, therefore, continuously been linked with more offensive-minded players such as Jeremie Frimpong and Denzel Dumfries, with the latter also being eyed by Aston Villa, according to a recent report. Both Dutch defenders are expected to leave their respective clubs in the summer, so offloading Dalot could make the necessary funds available to pursue a deal for one of them.
