Man Utd star urged to REJECT 'foolish' transfer
Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has urged Marcus Rashford to reject a move away from Old Trafford amid links with Paris Saint-Germain.
Rashford, 26, is one of the names on PSG’s shortlist to replace Kylian Mbappe this summer, with the France international set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires at the end of June.
Arsenal have even been tentatively linked with pursuing a deal to sign Rashford, who has angered Man Utd fans with some of his performances so far this season.
The England international has five goals and six assists in 30 appearances this campaign, but several supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction with his work rate out of possession.
However, Yorke believes that Rashford must ignore transfer interest from elsewhere and remain at Man Utd.
What has Dwight Yorke said?
The former Red Devils star made 152 appearances during a four-year stint at Old Trafford and has now urged Rashford to stay put.
“Rashford to Arsenal? I think that’d be a foolish move,” he told Gambling Zone, via Metro.
“Yes, people may think he wants to leave, but for what reason? He’s just signed a new contract and he’s easily, in my opinion, one of the best players at Manchester United.
“Of course, because of the level he reached last season he hasn’t been able to fulfil his potential. As sportsmen you go through phases and I think he will come out on the right side of it.
“With any sportsman, including Rashford, if you’re not happy at work you won’t have a good time. Rashford needs to be happy with his surroundings, in training, to perform the way we know he’s capable of doing.”
Yorke continued: “We don’t know the ins and outs, there’s lots of speculation that he’s not happy, but he may be happy and just out of form.
“I don’t really take too much notice when you hear everybody’s opinions, but I think Rashford is in the right place.”
Rashford still has over four years left on his current Man Utd contract after he signed a new deal back in 2023, and with PSG also targeting a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, he appears likely to remain at Old Trafford this summer.
