Man Utd stars REVOLT against Ten Hag after Fulham defeat
A number of Manchester United players were involved in an incredible attempted revolt against Erik ten Hag following the defeat to Fulham.
According to The Guardian, a group of Man Utd stars demanded that they be given Sunday off work - despite losing 2-1 at home to Fulham at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The demands were made to Man Utd coaching staff, who were stunned by the request given the dismal defeat to mid-table Londoners.
The demand for a day off was summarily rejected, with Man Utd’s players reminded of their responsibilities and told to be more professional.
The day after a game Man Utd players usually go into training for video analysis and physical work and warm-downs.
It has been reported elsewhere, on ESPN, that the players who revolted were senior members of the Man Utd squad and not any of the younger players.
This episode is the last thing that manager Erik ten Hag will have wanted in what has been a disastrous season for the club.
Ten Hag under pressure
Ten Hag is under increasing pressure following the arrival of new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is now in charge of transfers and recruitment.
Ratcliffe is watching developments closely between now and the end of the season before making a decision on whether to sack or retain Ten Hag.
The numerous reports of problems within the dressing room between Ten Hag and senior players will not help the Dutchman’s chances of staying at the club into 2023-24.
Man Utd are struggling down in sixth position, 16 points behind leaders Liverpool and with only a slim chance of making it into the top four.
They are already out of Europe and their only hope of winning a trophy is the FA Cup.
United play Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday in a must-win match for Ten Hag.
