Romano makes Hojlund transfer announcement Man Utd fans will love

Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund might be the form striker in the Premier League, but that won’t stop the Red Devils from searching for another centre forward in the summer transfer window, Fabrizio Romano has announced.

Hojlund has scored seven goals in his last six league matches, making him Man Utd’s joint-top scorer in the competition. In doing this, he became the youngest Premier League player to score in six successive games.

His early double against Luton on Sunday helped Erik ten Hag’s side to three points that put them firmly in touch with the top five clubs and further justifies the faith that the club put in him by paying €74 million to Atalanta to sign him in the summer.

Speculation had raged during January that Man Utd would be in the market for another forward, and despite Hojlund’s red-hot form, Romano says this will be the case in the summer.

“Manchester United want to sign a striker in the summer transfer window to have a backup for Rasmus Hojlund,” Romano announced via his YouTube channel.

“But they trust Hojlund. They believe that he has an incredible potential. This is why they signed him.

“Now Rasmus is performing at a fantastic level for Manchester United.”

Man Utd lacking attacking options

Anthony Martial is currently Man Utd’s only other natural centre-forward option but is out injured and will struggle to regain full fitness before his contract expires in the summer, while Marcus Rashford is the other player who could be used in the No.9 role. The England international, however, has been linked with a summer move to PSG.

Mason Greenwood could also play the position but is unlikely to feature for the club again following issues in his personal life that led to a police investigation into claims of attempted rape, engaging in controlling behaviour and assault. These charges, which the player denied, were dropped but United have exiled him to Getafe in Spain via a loan deal. His long-term future is likely to be decided this summer.

Hojlund, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to keep his streak going against Fulham in the Premier League next weekend at Old Trafford as Man Utd seek a fifth successive win in the competition.
