Man Utd target another Serie A star

The Red Devils have also been linked with Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

There is an acceptance at Atalanta that the central defender will be their next big star to move on and the game is now about getting the best fee possible.

A report this week in Calciomercato stated that the club are hoping to receive as much as €50 million valuation for their homegrown talent.

United are in dire need of defensive reinforcements this summer with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane out of contract and the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof far from secure.

Furthermore, lines of communication have been opened between the clubs since the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund last summer.

It was reported in January that the Red Devils had contacted Atalanta over the possibility of also adding Scalvini.
