Liverpool target breaks silence on West Ham future and admits 'honour' at Anfield link
Liverpool are set for an overhaul in the summer, when manager Jurgen Klopp departs the club, and the Reds’ facelift has seen them look to Premier League rivals West Ham.
The Anfield club are set for an extensive change in their backroom team, with Tim Steidten, the technical director of West Ham, linked with a similar role on Merseyside.
Steidten has previous experience of working at Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, and he admits that he could be open to a move to Liverpool.
Speaking to Sky Sports Deutschland, he said: “I've heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it's an honour. But so far nobody from Liverpool has contacted me yet.
“I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham. I quickly realised how intense this league is. Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals.
“I am looking forward facing the next weeks and months until the end of the season. Of course we are already planning for the next window. What happens to the future, we will see.”
Tension at the Hammers
West Ham have been dogged by rumours this season that the approaches of Steidten, who arrived at the club last summer, and manager David Moyes are incompatible.
This has seen the pressure grow on the Scot following a series of adverse results that saw the Hammers beaten 3-0 away to Manchester United and follow that up with a 6-0 reverse against Arsenal at home.
West Ham are still a very respectable eighth in the Premier League, with several of Steidten’s signings having caught the eye.
In particular, Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse have shone for the Hammers, who spent nearly €140 million in the transfer window last summer in the way of the club-record sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.
