Mourinho reveals managerial plan amid Chelsea, England & Bayern rumours

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he hopes to return to management this summer following his dismissal by AS Roma earlier this season.

The 61-year-old was sacked by Roma in January after one win in seven league games, and his replacement Daniele de Rossi has overseen a major change in the atmosphere surrounding the club.

However, despite the poor end to his stint at Roma, Mourinho has been tipped for several big jobs ahead of a busy summer.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are all on the hunt for a new manager, with Xavi, Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp leaving their posts at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Mourinho has been linked with the Bayern job, while reports have even suggested that he has begun learning German in anticipation of joining the Bavarians.

A return to Chelsea has also been touted as an option amid Mauricio Pochettino’s struggles at Stamford Bridge, although the Argentine may well be able to keep his job after reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.

Furthermore, Mourinho is also one of the more likely candidates to replace Gareth Southgate if the England boss steps down after EURO 2024.

Southgate has been linked with the Man Utd job, with some reports suggesting he is the favourite to succeed Erik ten Hag, and several England fans have called for his head following the Three Lions’ 1-0 loss to Brazil on Saturday.

Mourinho was in attendance at the MotoGP in Portimao this weekend and he was asked about his current managerial plans. “Zero, zero,” he said. “I don’t have a club, I’m free. But I want to work, in the summer I want to work.

Mourinho was then asked if he’s ruled out managing a Portuguese team. “Why?” he replied. “Never say no, especially in football. My life is football, I can train anywhere, I have no problems.”
