Guardiola favourite urged to join Liverpool to become a 'real legend'
Joshua Kimmich has been urged to leave Bayern Munich and join Liverpool this summer.
The German international is in the midst of a dire season. On a personal level, the 29-year-old's performance levels have been dropping significantly over the past year or so, with the decline particularly noticeable this season. On a team level, Bayern are enduring a miserable campaign by their lofty standards.
Kimmich's future has been the subject of discussion for months. Due to his marked drop-off, Bayern Munich are reportedly reluctant to hand the veteran (and other underperformers) the pay rise he is said to be asking for. The midfielder, who has recently been deputising at right-back again, allegedly wants to be brought in line with the club's new top earner Harry Kane.

Out of contract in 2025, Bayern will reportedly entertain offers for Kimmich in the summer if they can't get him to agree on fresh terms before then. Among the clubs interested in the 29-year-old are Barcelona, Liverpool and Man City, coached by his former Bayern mentor Pep Guardiola, who reportedly adored him for his versatility.
Kimmich urged to join Liverpool
Barcelona likely can't afford the German in the summer, leaving Liverpool and City as his two most realistic options. Despite the Reds being in for a massive summer overhaul, with Jurgen Klopp departing and the club already without a sporting director at this moment in time, Kimmich has been urged to move to Anfield by a German media outlet.
Bavarian paper Lindauer Zeitung has published a fresh article on Kimmich's future in its print edition, insisting that he must leave Bayern in the summer because he will never be properly appreciated in Munich. This echoes what departing Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel recently said, claiming that football personalities are more respected in England than in Germany.

It is asserted that, in order for Kimmich to become a 'real legend,' he must move to Liverpool in the next transfer window. Recent events, however, have cast doubt on the potential departure of the midfielder. New sporting chief Max Eberl already revealed that "he will sit down and talk" to Kimmich regarding a new deal soon.
Moreover, Tuchel's departure will have massive implications. By all accounts, Kimmich and the ex-Chelsea boss do not get along particularly well, with things recently boiling over after Bayern's loss to Bochum when Kimmich got into a heated argument with assistant coach Zsolt Low. Tuchel's exit massively increases Kimmich's chances of extending his stay at the Allianz Arena.
