EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd slap HUGE price tag on Greenwood as Atletico join Barcelona in race
Atletico Madrid have enquired about signing striker Mason Greenwood in the summer but Manchester United have slapped a £50million price tag on his head, FootballTransfers can reveal.
We are told that it’s likely that Red Devils will let him depart - though some quarters of the club still remain in favour of bringing him back to Old Trafford.
Those who wish to sell Greenwood have informed the LaLiga side that they are looking for an initial asking price around £50m, even though he would have just a year left on his deal in England. At present, it’s thought Atletico would not be prepared to meet the valuation, sources inform FootballTransfers.

Greenwood, who has also caught the attention of Barcelona, was sent on loan to Getafe for the remainder of the season but it’s highly improbable that he will be with the Madrid-based club for the next campaign.
It comes after Man Utd executives John Murtough and Matt Hargreaves met with Barcelona sporting director Deco earlier this week in the Catalonia capital, along with CAA Base co-founder, Frank Trimboli, and agent Federico Massai.

Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, has made it abundantly clear that he would welcome the return of Greenwood and was unhappy to see him moved on last summer.
Will Mason Greenwood play in Euro 2024?
Recently, England manager Gareth Southgate refused to rule out that Greenwood could make a return to the Three Lions squad in the future.
The former Aston Villa player said it was unlikely he'd consider it before the upcoming Euro 2024 competition in Germany - but did not say the following year would be the same. He said: "Well for me I don’t think it’s something for pre-Euros. I think allowing him to get his career going again abroad appears to have been a good move but I have to say I have not tracked it closely.
He continued: "I think at this moment in time it would be a big distraction for the team and let’s see where that leads next season. I would need to know more details about the whole thing before it was an option."
