Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has delivered an update on the future of the on-loan Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

The 22-year-old played 90 minutes as his side slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Sevilla on Saturday with Sergio Ramos grabbing the only goal on his 38th birthday.

Before the game, Bordalas was quizzed as to what would happen with Greenwood once his loan spell expired at the end of this season.

Getafe offered Greenwood the opportunity to play football when Man United decided that he would continue his career away from Old Trafford.

The LaLiga outfit produced a one-year loan deal for the attacker and he has gone on to score eight goals and provide five assists in all competitions this term, leading to speculation that he will be transferred to a bigger club in summer.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have all been linked with a move for Greenwood and FootballTransfers revealed that United will ask for £50 million for his services.

He will only have a year left on his Manchester United contract at the end of this season but the Red Devils are seeking to maximise any deal they can make for their homegrown striker.

Getafe in the dark over Greenwood’s future

Bordalas admitted he was in the dark about Greenwood’s next move, adding that it was United’s decision to make, and also revealing that the club were happy with his contributions this season.

“We don’t know,” the Getafe boss said. “In the end his club has to decide the intentions they have with the footballer.

“From there we will also know the boy’s intentions for his future. But I can’t tell you.

“We are happy with his behavior, his performance and well, now we only think about the next game, which is the game against Sevilla.”

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour in October 2022, and those charges were dropped in February 2023.
