Five stars expiring in 2025 who could leave this summer
With just a few months to go until footballers on expiring contracts will leave their clubs on a free transfer, there has been little attention afforded to all players whose deals expire in 2025.
But all football clubs have massive decisions to make in the coming weeks for their players with just over a year left on their contracts.
Either these players sign a new contract or they will also be able to leave on a free transfer in a year’s time.

As a result, many clubs will decide to sell these players this summer in order to avoid the risk of losing them for nothing.
Below are five such players who could be sold this summer a year before their contracts expire.
Ivan Toney (Brentford)
Ivan Toney was one of the hottest properties in the January transfer window, with Arsenal and Chelsea both keen to buy him.
The 27-year-old ended up staying at Brentford, but Brentford manager Thomas Frank has since admitted that it is virtually certain that Toney will be sold at the end of the campaign.
Chelsea and Arsenal - and also West Ham and Newcastle - have made the signing of a top striker one of their main priorities for the summer transfer window.
Toney is almost a certain bet to leave Brentford for a big sum this summer.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah is likely to be courted once more by the Saudi Pro League after a move there failed to materialise last summer.
The Egyptian is one of three Liverpool players, alongside star men Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts are up in 2025.
Of the three, Salah is the most likely to be sold as he turns 32 in June.
Last summer, Liverpool rejected a staggering €175million offer from Al-Ittihad for Salah.
Another massive bid is likely to arrive this summer - and this time Liverpool will be open to a sale.
Conor Gallagher (Chelsea)
Chelsea have threatened Conor Gallagher with a summer sale if he does not sign a new contract, according to a number of sources.
Gallagher’s contract at Stamford Bridge will expire in 2025 and Chelsea will not allow him to run his deal down.
Either he extends his deal or they will sell in order to make back a transfer fee.
Gallagher was the subject of many reports over the January transfer window, with Tottenham said to have been very interested in signing the England midfielder. Spurs could return in the summer.
Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
Bayern Munich have made Alphonso Davies a final take-it-or-leave-it contract offer.
The Canadian has been the subject of a transfer saga for months now, but it seems the end of it is in sight. Out of contract in 2025, the idea from Bayern's side has always been to either get the 23-year-old to commit his future to the club long-term or to offload him in the summer.
According to Sky Germany, if Davies doesn’t give an official answer over signing a new contract this week, Bayern will put Davies up for sale.
Real Madrid want to sign Davies and have earmarked the Canadian as their next long-term left back.
Federico Chiesa (Juventus)
Chiesa’s contract expires in 2025 and contract talks are not going well.
Juventus are unwilling to match Chiesa’s demands of €7 million per season due to his constant injuries. He missed most of 2022 with an ACL injury and has suffered 10 different physical problems in just over a year after returning.
Chiesa has yet to return to the levels that saw him explode as one of Europe’s best wingers at Euro 2020, which has added to Juve’s reluctance over a contract.
As a result, Juventus are potentially open to selling Chiesa this summer. Liverpool have been linked with making a move.
