Amrabat and five big Premier League loans that won’t be made permanent
We are now into the final weeks of the European season - and that means that clubs are already planning which players to sign and sell in the summer transfer window.
Clubs also need to decide what to do with players who are either on loan or were sent out on loan during the 2023-24 season.
Below we list five players currently on loan - involving Premier League clubs - who will not be making permanent transfers at the end of the campaign.

Sofyan Amrabat
Man Utd will not trigger the clause to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently at the end of the season.
United paid €9m last summer to sign Amrabat on loan for the season from Fiorentina.
However, United have been left desperately disappointed by Amrabat’s performances this season and will not pay the €25 million required to sign him for good.
He will return to Serie A at the end of next month, and there is interest from other Italian clubs.

Nicolo Zaniolo
Nicolo Zaniolo moved to Aston Villa on loan from Galatasaray for the reason and there were high hopes for the former wonderkid after a promising start.
But those hopes soon faded and Zaniolo has endured a miserable season at Villa Park.
The winger has only made one start in four months, and has had to console himself with scraps of minutes late in games off the bench.
He has three goals and one assist in all competitions and Villa have already decided to send him back to Galatasaray, who will look for another buyer.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney found himself surplus to requirements at Arsenal last summer and was loaned out to Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old has made 21 appearances for Real Sociedad this start, 14 of them starts, contributing two assists in the process.
However, Tierney has continued to suffer from physical problems in Spain and has had two layoffs with hamstring injuries this season.
Real Sociedad can’t afford to make his transfer permanent even if they want to, so he will return to Arsenal, who will try to sell him elsewhere.
Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku is currently on a one-year loan at Roma from Chelsea.
However, the chances of Roma signing Lukaku permanently are non-existent at the current terms.
The Belgian has an unofficial release clause of €40 million which will be accepted by Chelsea next summer.
This is a fee that Roma can neither afford nor can pay without falling foul of FFP regulations.
Lukaku would like to stay at Roma but a new loan deal would likely have to be agreed with Chelsea.
Roma may not even decide to do that, though, after a disappointing second half to the campaign from the Belgian.
Donny van de Beek
Donny van de Beek moved to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan until the end of the season during the January transfer window.
A buy option which would reach around €15m with add-ons was attached to the deal.
However, the 26-year-old has failed to impress with the Bundesliga side. He has made just four starts and five appearances in total, scoring no goals and making no assists.
Van de Beek has increasingly become a bench player and according to multiple reports Frankfurt have long decided to send him back to England at the end of the season.
