Alexander Isak once again showed just how devastating he can be in Newcastle's 4-0 mauling of Tottenham.

The Swedish sharpshooter netted a brilliant brace to become the first Magpies player to score 20+ goals across all competitions in a season since Alan Shearer did it 20 years ago,

Isak took his tally for the campaign to 21 goals in 34 outings. More impressively, the 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in 12 home games as well as recording seven goals and an assist in his last six games. In other words, the striker is on absolute fire right now.

Shearer himself was active on X during the game and praised Isak for his composed finishes as Newcastle strolled to a comfortable win over Ange Postecouglou's very disappointing Spurs. Isak's showing was yet again proof that, when fit, he is one of the Premier League's best strikers.

Arsenal need to consider Isak

In light of his good form, the Newcastle forward's future has been the subject of speculation. The Magpies will need to complete at least one big sale to balance the books this summer, but as things stand, it would come as a surprise if Isak were the man to leave.

Though he has been linked with Arsenal, Fabrizio Romano insists that it is unlikely for him to leave, while the player himself has admitted that he is loving life in the Northeast and that his future is at St. James' Park.

Still, Arsenal need to seriously consider Isak as an option for the summer. The Swede has not only silenced Gunners legend Emmanuel Petit who claimed that he wouldn't be a good signing but he also again showed that he is deadly at the Premier League level, which is a crucial point.

It sets Isak apart from his even more prolific compatriot Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting CP striker and Arsenal appear to be a match made in heaven. He is the Gunners' top target and he would be keen on the move, especially if Ruben Amorim departs Lisbon for Liverpool.

Gyokeres is in the midst of an absolutely outrageous season, having recorded 36 goals and 15 assists in 43 games this term. However, there are shades of Darwin Nunez about Gyokeres. The Liverpool man was also prolific in Portugal and has since failed to kick on in England, not scoring against a top team since September.

Signing Gyokeres, though he has ample experience playing in England, is a similar risk to the one Liverpool took. Isak, on the other hand, has already proven that he can get the job done in the Premier League, something Gyokeres did not manage to do at Brighton.

The two Swedes will both command fees in the region of €100 million, so signing Isak may just be the less risky option.
