Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal? Romano reveals the state of play
Fabrizio Romano has dismissed reports linking Arsenal to Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazilian has established himself as one of the Premier League's best midfielders since being made one of the first major signings under the Magpies' PIF ownership. The former Lyon man has been nothing short of a revelation for Newcastle.
This, of course, makes him a sought-after commodity, especially in light of the fact that he has a release clause. While Guimaraes won't come cheap given his exit clause is in excess of €100 million, big clubs will be tempted by the opportunity to sign the Brazil international without having to haggle with Newcastle.

Indeed, it is very likely that Guimaraes will be on the move this summer as Eddie Howe's side may need to offload at least one big name in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Arsenal are the latest side linked with a move for the midfield maestro, but Fabrizio Romano is not so sure there is much to these reports.
Romano on Guimaraes
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the Italian transfer expert dismissed the Gunners' links with Guimaraes. “Arsenal are also the latest club being linked with Bruno Guimaraes. We know they have had midfielders like Martin Zubimendi and Douglas Luiz on their list in recent times, but I’m not aware of anything concrete regarding Bruno at the moment, let’s see later this year."
“Guimaraes has been excellent for Newcastle and so he has been linked with all the clubs in the Premier League basically, which is normal, but let’s wait for concrete contacts, and serious talks before mentioning ten clubs per week. He’s obviously appreciated around Europe but it’s not something happening right now.”

The 26-year-old has made 44 appearances across all competitions this term, notching four goals and eight assists. Guimaraes has been most prominently linked with a move to PSG in recent months.
