Michael Olise to Arsenal actually makes PERFECT sense

Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, who has also been linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea.

The France U21 international is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, and FootballTransfers understands that he is a key target for Man Utd as they look to sign an upgrade on Antony, who has disappointed since arriving from Ajax.

However, The Guardian have reported that Arsenal are also interested in signing Olise this summer, while Mikel Arteta’s side are eyeing a move for Alexander Isak too.

Although a move for Olise may not make much sense on paper, given his best position is currently being occupied by Bukayo Saka at the Emirates Stadium, it could work out perfectly for all parties.

Michael Olise to Arsenal?

Firstly, Arsenal have proven they are willing to spend big in the market to sign proven Premier League players - as seen with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz last summer. As a result, they would likely offer Palace a reasonable fee for Olise, who could cost in excess of €60 million.

Furthermore, joining Arsenal would be a perfect next step for Olise. Sure, Saka is currently the first-choice right winger, but the Frenchman has suffered multiple injury issues recently and playing less often may reduce his risk of future injuries.

Plus, he would be joining a team capable of fighting for the Premier League title and one of the favourites for the 2024-25 Champions League. If he signs for Man Utd or Chelsea, the latter would not be possible given they aren’t due to qualify and the former would be a pipedream.

As for Arsenal, Olise would be perfect. Saka has been completely overworked recently and the Englishman’s limp is now commonplace in almost every match. Signing Olise would provide Arteta with an adequate Saka back-up and enable the England international to be rested far more frequently.

In addition, Olise has sometimes featured as a right-sided number eight at Palace, meaning he could also deputise for Martin Odegaard if needed.

Olise would easily rack up at least 50 first-team appearances and at least 25 starts during the 2024-25 season if he joins Arsenal - fitness depending - and the Gunners would finally be able to give Saka a much deserved rest. Furthermore, Crystal Palace would also receive a reasonable fee in a move that sounds perfect for all involved.
