Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah will both leave Chelsea this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are once again set for a big transfer window. Signing a star striker has become imperative in light of Nicolas Jackson's unimpressive first season at the club and other areas of the team will likely also be strengthened off the back of a poor Premier League campaign.

With Chelsea thought to be in a precarious Financial Fair Play position, sales will have to be made before the club can think about splashing the cash again. However, not every departure from Stamford Bridge will flush money into the Blues' coffers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it has now been officially decided that veteran centre-back Thiago Silva will leave the club when his contract expires this summer. It had been rumoured for months and Romano has confirmed the decision, which will be announced via official channels in the near future.

Brazilian giants Fluminense are keen on bringing the 39-year-old back to the club for a third spell, but the Italian transfer expert asserts that it's still too early for Silva to decide on his next club - or whether he should retire.

Chalobah also leaving

Romano has also reiterated that Trevoh Chalobah will depart Chelsea this summer. The versatile defensive player was linked with an exit last summer and again in January, but ultimately nothing materialised. In the upcoming window, however, it will likely be a different scenario despite him recently winning back his place in the side after lengthy injury struggles.

“My understanding is that the expectation is still for Chalobah to leave, so that Chelsea can make profit and for Chalobah to be a regular starter," Romano told CaughtOffside. "Having said that, it was the same in January and didn’t happen at that time because you need to make all parties happy to make the deal happen."
