All change at Chelsea! Boehly in €200m fire sale to fund Osimhen transfer

Chelsea are set to experience a transfer overhaul in the summer, with the focus first on selling players in order to fund deals for those coming in.

The Blues’ headline transfer plan is to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, but while this move looks a probability at this stage, it will only be possible if they can clear their decks and, crucially, raise money to stop them breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

With the club in the middle of the Premier League table and unable to challenge for Europe this season, owner Todd Boehly has the pick of his players to sell. It appears, though, that a string of academy stars are destined for the axe. These players are Chelsea’s best option to dump from an FFP standpoint.

Who will Chelsea sell?

Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja and Lewis Hall are all poised to go. Of this quintet, only Gallagher has seriously had an impact in the first team this season and is a player that manager Mauricio Pochettino is known to want to keep. The other four look expendable, with Broja, Maatsen and Hall on loan at Fulham, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle respectively.

But it is more than just academy graduates that Chelsea will look to sell, as explained by Football London.

Marc Cucurella’s move from Brighton 18 months ago has not been a success and Chelsea are ready to cut their losses on the Spaniard.

Veteran centre-back Thiago Silva, meanwhile, could depart at the end of his contract while fellow defender Malang Sarr will be dumped at the first opportunity too.

Equally, other established senior pros who are out on loan - Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Hakim Ziyech – are all available for sale in the summer too.

These 11 players have a combined Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of close to €200 million, which would more than cover any fee for Osimhen, whose release clause sits between €120-130m.
