Ten Hag SLAMMED by Man Utd legend

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has slammed Erik ten Hag for his “kamikaze chaos” football.

Ten Hag once again finds himself under fire after a miserable past week in which the Red Devils failed to win three games and conceded seven goals in the process.

The ease at which United were carved open in these matches against Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool was alarming for Ferdinand.

What did Ferdinand say?

"The manager came out before and was saying 'if anyone can't see the style of play then I don't know what you're looking at' and basically 'we have got a style of play'. For the life of me, I give him the benefit of the doubt every time and am looking at him thinking every time 'what is it'?,” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube show.

"I said yesterday [Sunday] after the game if kamikaze, open sesame, no control of the game football is what we're looking for, he has it nailed on and is doing a great job at it because that's what we're playing. You can put that down to injuries, we have a load of injuries but a lot of teams have injuries and they still play a style of football they are trying to achieve. I don't think Ten Hag's style is this kamikaze chaos football."

Ten Hag to be sacked?

Ten Hag joined Man Utd in the summer of 2022 and enjoyed a decent first season as he took the club back into the Champions League, won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final.

However, the 2023-24 campaign has been a total disaster for Ten Hag. United have lost 12 of their 31 Premier League games and have a negative goal difference.

They need a miracle to finish in the Champions League places, as they are 11 points behind fourth and fifth position with seven games to go.

United went out of the League Cup early but worst of all were humiliated in the Champions League group stages.

Despite being drawn in one of the weaker groups together with Galatasaray and Copenhagen, they finished bottom of the pool as the Danes and Bayern Munich progressed.

United picked up just four points and conceded 15 goals, the most ever by an English team in the groups in the history of the tournament.

Having conceded 46 goals in 31 games in the Premier League also, Ferdinand clearly feels that Ten Hag doesn’t know how to defend.

The Dutch manager is expected to be sacked at the end of the season, with England coach Gareth Southgate the favourite to replace him.
