Man Utd set for multimillion-pound Sancho windfall if transfer clause triggered

Jadon Sancho might not have contributed much to Manchester United’s cause on the pitch this season, but on loan at Borussia Dortmund, he is at least aiding their bank balance.

It had already been revealed that Dortmund’s progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League, in which they will meet PSG, triggered a clause in the deal that saw Man Utd land a significant financial windfall.

There could be more to come for the Red Devils, though, with the Times reporting that they are in line to land another massive sum from Dortmund.

It is stated that United are in line to recoup €4 million (£3.4m) from the Bundesliga side if they can progress through to the final of the Champions League.

Although this is not the type of money that will allow the Old Trafford side to make a world-class signing, it does however represent a figure that will help them meet their financial sustainability obligations to the Premier League.

’Everything going right’ on Sancho deal – Romano

Fabrizio Romano outlined on Friday that the decision to move Sancho to Dortmund after his September falling out with manager Erik ten Hag is one that is paying dividends – quite literally.

“Sancho is happy at Dortmund, where he started. He’s playing, he’s an important player in a group of players he really appreciates,” Romano said.

“Everything’s going right on that deal and Man Utd will get more money, which is important for Financial Fair Play.”

And a permanent move remains a possibility.

“The intention of Borussia Dortmund remains to sit at the table with Manchester United at the end of the season and try to find a solution to keep the player at the club, so let’s see what the situation will be,” Romano added.

Dortmund face newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
