Darwin Nunez turns to Messi method to save Liverpool career
Liverpool retain faith in misfiring striker Darwin Nunez, who has taken a method tried and trusted by greats such as Lionel Messi and Harry Kane to salvage his misfiring career.
Nunez drew another blank on Wednesday as Liverpool were defeated 2-0 by Everton at Goodison Park.
The Uruguay international had his chances to score, yet when presented with a clear opportunity in the first half, he smashed straight at Jordan Pickford with much of the goal to aim for.

His last strike came against Sheffield United on 4 April, yet his previous goal against a top 10 team anywhere in Europe’s top five leagues was way back on 24 September versus West Ham – the opposition that Jurgen Klopp’s side face in a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.
Nunez posts more big chances missed than any other player in the Premier League with 30, but while his work rate and endeavour remains unparalleled, his lack of quality has been telling as Liverpool’s campaign has come apart at the seams.

What has been said about Darwin Nunez?
Journalist Francois Plateau says that the 25-year-old is looking towards Messi and Kane for inspiration in a bid to get out of his slump.
“Liverpool has faith in Darwin Nunez and believes there’s a mental aspect to his low confidence and missed chances,” he claims via X.
“The club, along with Nunez, has decided to hire a personal sports psychologist for him to improve concentration and confidence in stressful situations.
“Players like Harry Kane and Lionel Messi have previously been open about their commitment to mental training and how it has contributed to their development as players.”
Nunez was seen as relatively successful in his first season at Liverpool, during which he scored 15 goals in 42 appearances.
This time around, he has exceeded that figure with 18 goals already, yet having been given a more prominent role, fans have grown frustrated with his performances, leading to the likes of Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher suggesting that he should be sold.
