'I don't want another euro!' - Former Liverpool star wants contract cancelled

Former Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto has revealed that he wants to find a new club this summer.

Alberto played for The Reds nine times in the 2013-14 Premier League season but failed to make much of an impact.

He spent the next two years in on loan at La Liga clubs Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna, respectively.

In 2016, Alberto signed for Italian giants Lazio, who he has played for ever since.

Making over 300 appearances in all competitions, he is now regarded as a club legend.

However, at 31 years of age, the former Liverpool man is looking for a new challenge.

Lazio are currently seventh in Serie A and appear unlikely to qualify for next season's Europa League.

With a few years left of his prime, the Spaniard understandably wants to go somewhere that he can compete for major honours.

Luis Alberto to leave Lazio

Despite having a contract until 2027, Alberto is adamant on wanting to leave Lazio in the summer.

"I don't know [what the future holds], but I know this is my last season here," he told DAZN.

"I don't want to take another euro from Lazio, I have already asked for the contract to be terminated. I think the time has come to step aside."

The Spaniard also took to Instagram to write: "I am grateful for the displays of affection, my relationship with the Lazio fans is excellent and it is only a matter of pride.

"I thank you for everything that they have done in my years at the club, especially to the boys from the Curva Nord and the Tribuna Tevere [stands in the Stadio Olympico] who have always supported me.

"I will always have you in my heart. I will continue to work hard and give my all on the pitch until the last minute of the last match as I always have."
