The winds of change are sweeping through Liverpool this summer, with Klopp bringing down the curtain on eight glittering seasons that have seen the club climb back to the top of English and European football.

Feyenoord manager Slot has been identified as the German's replacement, and will have his own ideas about new players - but it is clear he would like to keep stars like Van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold around.

But Salah had a touchline bust-up with Klopp during the 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday, and looks increasingly likely to head to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season.

And now Van Dijk has been linked with a move away - to Klopp's former club Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund have Van Dijk 'on their radar'

"The Kop skipper has a year left on his contract and isn't rushing to sign a new deal with Jurgen Klopp leaving next month and Slot ushering in a new era at Anfield," report The Mirror.

"Slot will hope to persuade his fellow countryman to extend his stay at Anfield but Dortmund are believed to have van Dijk on their radar."

Slot could be left with just one senior centre-back at Anfield in Ibrahima Konate with Joel Matip also linked with a move to Italy with either Roma or Lazio - although the emergence of Jarell Quansah alleviates some pressure in the position.

Van Dijk - who once cost Liverpool €84.7 million - is now valued at €27.6m by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, a not insurmountable fee for Dortmund.

BVB are likely to set aside budget for a centre-back this summer. Mats Hummels is 35 and Niklas Sule has dropped out of the Germany squad as he struggles for form and fitness.
