It's time to go! Why Arsenal should sell Gabriel Jesus this summer

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks.

Jesus has scored just four Premier League goals this season and now finds himself on the substitutes' bench.

His poor form has coincided with Kai Havertz's best performances in an Arsenal shirt - the German has provided eight goals and five assists in his last 15 appearances.

With the Gunners also linked with signing a forward in the summer transfer window, the Brazilian's future has been cast into doubt.

However, FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on Wednesday that manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu are both in agreement that Jesus should stay.

Here's why that would be the wrong decision:

Arsenal have scored the most of any team in the Premier League this season.

Havertz has stepped up lately, while wingers Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have always been threatening in the final third.

Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice have also contributed a number of important goals throughout the campaign.

So, it would seem that Jesus' lack of production has not impacted the Gunners at all.

However, in the biggest games, such as the Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich, or the recent 0-0 draw with Manchester City, the Gunners have suffered from a lack of firepower up front.

Therefore, one way that Arsenal can improve over the summer is to buy a clinical number nine.

Alexander Isak, Victor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, among others, have been linked, and they all have one thing in common: they will cost a huge transfer fee.

So, what better way to raise those funds than to sell Jesus, who is by no means a bad player, but one that will never be good enough to lead the line at a top club.
