OFFICIAL: Bayern Munich appoint Vincent Kompany
Bayern Munich have announced the appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new head coach.
The Belgian arrives after an up-and-down two-year stint at Burnley. Having led the Clarets to the Championship title in swashbuckling fashion, Burnley went straight back down with a whimper in the bygone season.
Despite suffering relegation from the Premier League, the Man City legend remains a highly-rated coach. Indeed, Kompany is regarded as one of the brightest up-and-coming minds in the game right now even though he failed to show much tactical flexibility last season.

Bayern Munich's search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel had been going - unsuccessfully - for months, with the club announcing in February that the ex-Chelsea boss would depart at the end of the season.
In fact, Bayern's pursuit of a new manager went so badly that they even negotiated with Tuchel over remaining recently, but no agreement could be reached. Kompany, on the other hand, had no qualms about joining the Bavarians.
Kompany excited about Bayern challenge
Speaking to club media after being unveiled, Kompany said of his new role: "I'm excited about the challenge at FC Bayern. It is a big honour to work for this club - FC Bayern are an institution of European football."
"As a coach, you have to show your personality: I love having the ball and being creative - and we also need aggressive and brave on the pitch. I'm looking forward to the basic tasks: Working with the players and building a team. Once the foundation is built, success will come."

Kompany is Bayern's fifth head coach since 2018 and the club are keen on building a long-term project with the 38-year-old. Director Max Eberl said: "We would like to see more continuity in this position. Together with him, we want to achieve a lot at FC Bayern - and of course be successful together."
