Man Utd prioritise €100m double swoop with Chelsea fan favourite also linked

Manchester United are expected to pursue an ambitious summer transfer window, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s side have already earmarked two Premier League stars as priority targets.

The Red Devils are ready to invest more than €100 million in securing the services of some leading players, with TalkSport reporting that they are planning moves for both Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Everton’s Jarrard Branthwaite.

This corresponds to FootballTransfers’ exclusives that United are in pole to sign the former France U21 international and are also well placed to land Branthwaite, who is uncapped but will travel with England to Euro 2024.

In order to land the pair, Man Utd would have to spend lavishly, but as FootballTransfers revealed, the prospect of getting Branthwaite on a cut-price deal is good given Everton’s ongoing financial problems.

The Red Devils do appear, however, to be considering alternatives to the Everton star.

Chalobah to Man Utd?

The Independent reports that the Red Devils are tracking Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah.

Although a favourite of the Blues’ fans, he was rarely used by Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Along with several other academy graduates, including Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja, Chalobah could well be sold by Chelsea in the summer. With the Stamford Bridge side needing to make sales before signing, these players offer the best way for them to do so via an accounting perspective.

It is reported Chelsea would demand a fee of €29.5m (£25m) for Chalobah, which is approximately half the price of Branthwaite, making him a viable alternative.

All of these three aforementioned players fit into Ratcliffe’s golden rules that are set to become Man Utd’s transfer mantra in the years ahead. Most importantly, he is under the age of 26, which is seen by the new Old Trafford hierarchy as an important cut off as they try to build a team for the future.
