Man Utd scout €25m Japanese attacker

Manchester United are among the clubs to have reportedly scouted Brondby IF forward Yuito Suzuki amid his impressive form in the Danish top flight.

The 22-year-old has 11 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season, and Man Utd have joined the race to sign him, according to reports in Denmark.

The Japan U21 international joined Brondby for a mere €600k last year after an underwhelming six-month loan spell at Strasbourg. Suzuki mustered just three first-team appearances for the Ligue 1 side and he returned to parent club Shimizu S-Pulse before being sold to Brondby in August.

Since joining the Superliga giants, Suzuki has shone in an attacking midfield role and his recent form has sparked interest from across Europe.

He scored the only goal of the game during Brondby’s 1-0 win over Nordsjaelland on Wednesday, with scouts from Man Utd, Manchester City, Milan, Ajax, Espanyol, Tottenham and Stuttgart watching on, according to Danish publication Bold.dk.

All seven clubs were in attendance to watch Suzuki and he didn’t disappoint with a match-winning performance at the Brondby Stadion.

Ajax, Tottenham and Stuttgart had also sent representatives to watch Suzuki in April, while Stuttgart’s head of recruitment, Thomas Henning, has been tasked with scouting the Japanese attacker.

How much will Yuito Suzuki cost?

The report from Bold.dk states that Suzuki could cost as much as €25 million this summer as Brondby look to maximise their potential revenue following his impressive campaign on the pitch.

The current plan is for Suzuki to remain with the Danish club until 2025 at the earliest, but Brondby will reportedly find it hard to reject a sufficient offer this summer.

Man Utd are seemingly behind Ajax, Tottenham and Stuttgart in the race to sign Suzuki - given their more extensive scouting of the Japan U21 star - but the Red Devils could pursue a summer move as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
