Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Aaron Anselmino, according to a report.

The Blues' summer transfer window will be just like the ones in years past. Those who thought that Chelsea would abandon their policy of mostly signing young players after two underwhelming seasons since the Todd Boehly takeover were mistaken.

With Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu, two young strikers will join the club, while Estavao Willian will arrive next year. Tosin Adarabioyo is a slightly different type of signing, though he was a free transfer.

As far as young players are concerned, Chelsea are continuing to splash the cash and their next arrival could hail from Argentina. According to Ben Jacobs, the Blues are 'within touching distance' of sealing a deal to sign Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.

However, the youngster is unlikely to line up for the west London giants next summer.

Anselmino to join Strasbourg

Jacobs reports that it is expected that Anselmino will head to Ligue 1 affiliate Strasbourg on loan. Boca Juniors, meanwhile, would prefer to keep Anselmino at least until January.

Despite this, it is claimed that Chelsea and the Argentine behemoth are close to agreeing a deal that falls below the 19-year-old's €24 million release clause. Anselmino has already agreed to pen a six-year contract with Chelsea.

The highly-rated centre-back is keen on the move and is set to become Chelsea's latest South American wonderkid after the aforementioned Estevao and Ecuador gem Kendry Paez.

It seems that this transfer is safer than Chelsea's pursuit of Pedro Lima, who decided to join Wolves at the 11th hour as they offered him to be part of the first team straight away instead of farming him out to a sister club.
