Chelsea have received several enquiries about Christopher Nkunku, according to a report.

The Frenchman finally made his highly-anticipated move to Stamford Bridge last summer after Chelsea and RB Leipzig had already agreed a transfer in principle the previous year.

Nkunku had a barnstorming 2022/23 campaign, finishing as the Bundesliga's top scorer, and Chelsea fans were hopeful that their club had found a solution to their offensive problems after a dire season.

However, a pre-season injury swiftly ended those hopes, with the side of then-coach Mauricio Pochettino struggling for most of the term. Nkunku would go on to suffer several setbacks and he ultimately only featured in 514 minutes, scoring three times.

Could the €60 million signing jump ship after such a disappointing campaign?

Nkunku to leave Chelsea?

Well, he could, although it does not look particularly likely. According to Sky Germany's RB Leipzig transfer insider Philipp Hinze, Chelsea and Nkunku's camp have received several enquiries from unnamed clubs.

However, Hinze assures Chelsea fans that there is nothing to worry about. Nkunku remains fully committed to the Blues and wants to establish himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge after his injury-disrupted first season.

There is interest in the former Leipzig superstar, but as things stand, there is no transfer currently in the works. The versatile forward is set to remain in west London and will look to become an important player under new boss Enzo Maresca.

This news is nevertheless intriguing because it comes amid Chelsea's ongoing search for a new number nine. Though Nkunku isn't a traditional centre-forward, many thought that his future would lie there when the Blues announced his signing.

Maresca and company have a whole host of options on their shortlist for the upcoming transfer window, among them one of the Nkunku replacements signed by Leipzig last summer in Benjamin Sesko.
