Chelsea learn answer from Newcastle following British-record Isak approach
Chelsea have been informed that they must pay potentially over the £200 million mark to secure a deal with Alexander Isak.
The Daily Mail reported that the Blues had enquired to Newcastle about their star striker, as Enzo Maresca looks to boost his forward line.
It’s thought that conversations have taken place between the sides, but ultimately the Magpies told Chelsea that any such move would be a club-record fee beyond the £115 million they paid for Moises Caicedo.

Now the Northern Echo has stated that the figure is nearer to £200m for any sort of deal to come to fruition.
Isak - who FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) algorithm ranks at €62.5 million - is one of the hottest attackers in the world - the 24-year-old scored 25 goals last season. Newcastle paid a club-record £63m to Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022 for the striker and the Swede has more than dignified that fee so far.
When does Alexander Isak’s contract expire?
The former Borussia Dortmund man was previously linked to Arsenal ahead of the summer window, but interest cooled after the Gunners learned of his price.
Isak recently spoke about his future at St James’ Park, saying in no uncertain times that he is happy where he is.

“I’m enjoying myself very, very much in Newcastle,” he told Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen.
“I just had the best season of my career. That should not be underestimated. I love everything really about the club, the fans, the city.”
He added: “I actually have no thoughts of a move or anything like that. I enjoy myself fantastically well and am very happy with my life.”
“I have not received any information from the club that they would need to sell me.”
Isak’s contract at Newcastle expires in the summer of 2028 and he is believed to be in discussions over a new contract.
