Newcastle make 'big offer' for Chelsea target
Newcastle have made an offer for Valencia goal-keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to reports in Spain.
The 23-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move away last summer, has now attracted further interest, reports Cope, who say that the Magpies have made offer worth €41 million.
Newcastle have been linked to Mamardashvili over the last few months despite Nick Pope’s return from injury and have now made their move in securing the youngster.

It was reported that Valencia had set a €40m asking price for the Georgian goalkeeper, but this fee has gone above that.
Mamardashvili was statistically the best ‘keeper in La Liga last season and has also been linked to Chelsea. It’s thought that he is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League ahead of the new season. Valencia have already signed Stole Dimitrievski, considered to be his replacement, and so it’s believed that the sale of Mamardashvili will be just a matter of time.

Enzo Maresca joins Chelsea as head coach
It comes after the news that Chelsea have announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach on a five-year contract.
The Italian will succeed Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge for the 2024/25 season and beyond. The Argentine left Chelsea by mutual consent following the conclusion of the bygone campaign, with the Blues managing to sneak into the Conference League with a late-season surge up the table.

Chelsea wanted to replace Pochettino with a young and progressive manager and they believe that they have managed to achieve just that with the appointment of Maresca. The 44-year-old led Leicester City to the Championship title last season, playing some of the most impressive football in England in the early parts of the campaign.
Such had been the Foxes' early-season dominance that they could afford to lose seven of their final 14 games and still claim the title, sealing promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
