Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, valued at around £70 million.

Murillo only moved to Nottingham in an £11.2m deal from Corinthians last summer and is already expected to leave.

The Brazilian was named Forest’s player of the year in his debut campaign, catching the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs.

Among those are Chelsea, according to The Telegraph, who believe that the 21-year-old fits their long-term vision.

The Blues have consistently targeted young players over the past few transfer windows and it comes as no surprise to now see them linked with Murillo.

The defender appears to be open to a move away from the City Ground, too. “I’ve received a few offers,” he told Brazilian show Os Donos da Bola.

“Some official, others sounding out. I’ll take it up with my agent. They were clubs from England, Italy and Germany.

“If I stay at Nottingham, I’ll do my best. If I leave, I hope they respect my decision. I’m calm and analysing it in the best way.”

Do Chelsea need Murillo?

While Murillo is a talented young player, Chelsea should save their money for other targets.

The Blues need to upgrade the left-back, left-wing and striker positions in the summer window.

A left-sided centre-back, when they already have Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile, should not be their priority.

Indeed, getting the best out of Colwill, especially, should be high on new manager Enzo Maresca's agenda.

The Englishman was superb on loan at Brighton two seasons ago but failed to replicate that form at Stamford Bridge in the last campaign.

Signing Murillo would only hinder Colwill's development, and that would be a real shame given his world-class potential.
