Chelsea might have missed out on Crystal Palace winger Olise, but the club are close to securing a deal that will see Omari Kellyman join the club from Aston Villa.

The Telegraph has reported that Kellyman is close to joining the Stamford Bridge side in a deal that is worth in the region of €22.5 million (£19m).

This was information subsequently backed up by The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

It is a deal that echoes the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa two years ago, with Kellyman having recently broken into Unai Emery’s squad. He made four appearances for the club last season.

Although terms have been agreed between the clubs, Kellyman does not have a deal with Chelsea, according to the BBC. Talks over his contract are starting, with the Blues expected to offer him a five- or six-year deal. It is stated the move is happening “fast”.

Maatsen heading to Aston Villa

Ian Maatsen will travel in the opposite direction, with the left-back leaving Chelsea to join Villa in a separate transaction. This move will be worth around €45m (£37.5m).

He previously had a £35m release clause but that expired this week.

Maatsen’s representatives are in meetings with Villa to conclude personal terms, with Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports claiming those talks have been “positive”.

“It would have to be really bad for the deal to break down now,” Sheth said.

Olise wage claim

One of the reasons that Olise’s transfer to Chelsea broke down, meanwhile, was because he wanted to become the best-paid player at the club, according to Nathan Gissing.

Taking to X, he said: “One source told me that he was keen to be the highest paid player at Chelsea, but they are ultimately trying to cut down the wage bill and felt it was out of their range.”

Olise is instead set to move to Bayern Munich.

Chelsea will pay €34m up front, with €6m potentially following depending on his Palmeiras appearances. Another €17m is based on being a “multi-season starter” at Chelsea, with €4m in difficult add-ons.

Romano says that there is a specific Ballon d’Or bonus included in the deal.

Estevao will sign a contract until 2033 and will join after the 2025 Club World Cup.
