Romano confirms Chelsea wonderkid is set to sign new contract
Chelsea youngster Tyrique George is set to sign a new contract at the club after reaching an agreement with the Blues.
George, 18, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy and he is viewed as a future superstar by those integrated into the club’s youth set-up.
According to Fabrizio Romano, George is close to signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge. The transfer expert posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Chelsea talent Tyrique George set to sign [a] new contract at the club today, agreement reached.

“George will be part of [the] Chelsea project, as 2006 born talent is considered as [a] huge one for the future.”
George made 34 appearances for Chelsea’s U18 and U21 sides last season, registering 14 goals and 10 assists.
He is yet to make his first-team debut, although he appeared on the bench against Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur during the final month of the 2023-24 campaign.

Chelsea’s summer transfer business
Although George is set to agree new terms at Chelsea, the Blues still face a fight to retain the services of 15-year-old wonderkid Rio Ngumoha.
The teenager has been widely compared to Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, who came through Chelsea’s academy before returning to Germany, and his contract at the west London club is due to expire this summer.
Clubs across Europe are monitoring Ngumoha’s situation, but Chelsea are making moves to ensure he signs a new deal and stays at the club, according to The Athletic.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are fighting to sign Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, while Armando Broja is reportedly being pursued by Everton.
The Albania international is one of several players who could follow Thiago Silva and Lewis Hall to the Stamford Bridge exit door before the summer transfer window closes.
