After a whirlwind few weeks, it seems like Erik ten Hag will be staying on as Manchester United manager for the foreseeable future.

The club's new minority owners, Ineos, may have held talks with several potential candidates to replace Ten Hag, but in the end all of those discussions ended up hitting a dead end.

All of this means United are expected to enter the new season with Ten Hag still being the club's manager.

For how long that remains, the case is moot. Ten Hag has just one year left on his current contract at United, and before the club can come to an agreement over a contract extension, he has several key issues to solve.

According to a report from The Times, Ten Hag will have three demands in particular that he will want assurances on before deciding to enter contract extension talks.

One of Teng Hag's key demands is not to be forced to cede power to the recruitment team. The Times claims Ineos are keen to give more power to a group headed up by Jason Wilcox but the former Ajax boss is reluctant to accept that power shift. It is written in his current contract that he has a veto on all the club's potential new arrivals.

In addition to that, Ten Hag will also demand for Jadon Sancho to be sold. The relationship soured between the two last season culminating in Sancho being sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund. Despite having a good season at Dortmund, Sancho's future lies away from Old Trafford if Ten Hag remains in charge.

And lastly, the report claims that Ten Hag also wants Manchester United to hand a new contract extension to Benni McCarthy, who has been coaching the club's forwards and whose contract expires at the end of the month.

Whether he gets all three of his demands remains to be seen.
