Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Kvaratskhelia bomb, Man Utd secrets, Chelsea decisions
Fabrizio Romano has dropped the latest football transfer news updates, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia making the headlines.
Kvaratskhelia, in particular, has rocked the transfer market via the player’s agent and father both announcing that they want the Napoli winger to depart the club for a team playing in the Champions League.
The Georgia international has previously been linked with a move to Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester City, but it is PSG who have been most heavily associated with a move this summer.

Romano has given the latest on his situation.
“The father and the agent of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, both of them, in the same interview, have just announced the plan they have,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Remember this part, they both said they are still waiting to talk to the player. But both say: ‘We want to leave Napoli.’
“The plan is to leave Napoli. The agent said, the decision will be made after the Euros, but we want to leave Napoli.
“Both of them mentioned the intention of playing Champions League football next season. Maybe staying at Napoli one more season, would mean losing one season of Champions League football.
“A strong statement from the agent and father of the player.”

Romano revealed what the position is in the transfer market with the player.
“PSG have always been, in recent weeks and months, the strongest team in showing interest. They’ve had more than one contact with the agent. He’s not the only player but for sure, he’s on their shortlist. The position is very clear: the interest is there but it’s important to understand what Napoli want to do. And in the last month, Napoli have been super strong, especially the president himself. He always told the agents that his intention is to keep Kvaratskhelia and offer him a new contract, which is already on the table. But the position of the player, via his agent and father, is to leave now.
“In the last year, there has been interest from Premier League clubs. Several have sent their scouts to follow Kvaratskhelia this year. For example, Chelsea have watched him many times but they are mentioning Champions League football, so let’s see. Other Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation.”
Duran to Chelsea latest
Romano also dropped an update on the position of Jhon Duran’s transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea, indicating that it will only be completed on one condition.
“Big decisions for Chelsea this week,” he said. “One of these will be on the striker Jhon Duran. There are negotiations still ongoing between Chelsea and Aston Villa. The idea for Chelsea is only to do the deal with a swap: players have to be included for Duran.
“Duran wants Chelsea but is waiting to see if they can agree with Aston Villa. There’s still time for internal discussion.
“There are also other clubs interested in Duran for a summer transfer.”
Colwill ‘untouchable’
If there is doubt over Duran’s presence at Stamford Bridge next season, that is certainly not the case with regards centre-back Levi Colwill, who has been the target of interest from Bayern Munich.
This has, however, been short lived.
“The position of Chelsea is very clear: they believe Levi Colwill is untouchable. He is a crucial player,” Romano says. “He’s staying at the club. If anything happens, it will come from Colwill, who would tell them that he wants to go. At the moment, they don’t have any message from the player, who is fully focused on the project.”
Xavi Simons transfer news: Chelsea to make shock move?
Xavi Simons is expected to be on the move this summer, with Romano even indicating that Chelsea could be a shock destination for the Netherlands star.
“It’s not something that’s going to be clarified now. It will not be until after the Euros,” he said.
“Xavi Simons is expected to leave PSG, yes. The expectation is for him to leave on loan. Bayern are still pushing, but also Leipzig are still pushing to have Simons for one more season with Benjamin Sesko, it’s an ambitious project.
“For Xavi Simons, decision time will be after the Euros.”
Ten Hag admits Man Utd’s Tuchel talks
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, has confirmed that he knew the club were talking to former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel about potentially replacing him.
“He confirmed he’s in negotiations with Man Utd over a new contract. Talks are ongoing over a new deal. There are still a few details to clarify,” Romano said.
“Ten Hag said Ineos needed some time to decide upon the manager, but he also said Manchester United informed him about the meeting with other candidates, especially Thomas Tuchel.
“Tuchel was closest to getting the job. Then, Tuchel on his side and Man Utd on their side decided not to continue talks. Now Erik ten Hag says they felt they already had the best manager possible.
“Ten Hag was perfectly aware of the ‘secret meetings’. This was part of the review process.”
