Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Man Utd SURPRISE, Zirkzee UPDATE, Omorodion, Duran to Chelsea LATEST

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest transfer news from Manchester United and Chelsea, with the Red Devils planning a surprise move as the Blues look to seal a deal for either Jhon Duran or Samu Omorodion in attack.

In addition, Man Utd are also seeking to do a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, but according to Romano, the situation is not as advanced as has been suggested elsewhere.

Milan are still in the lead for the Netherlands hitman, but the Red Devils are making enquiries.

Taking to YouTube, Romano said: “I can confirm the situation on Joshua Zirkzee. AC Milan remain the favourites in this story. They agreed almost everything with him in terms of the player side. They’ve told Bologna that they’re willing to pay the release clause of the player, €40m. But they don’t have the agreement of Zirkzee’s agent on the commission.

“Milan are still in control of the deal on the player’s side but they don’t have the agreement of the agent.

“Meanwhile, other clubs are entering the race. There are not so many strikers available on the market for that price. This is why, if Milan want to close the deal, they’ll have to be fast.

“Manchester United have made an inquiry to Zirkzee to understand how the deal will work. How much is the clause? €40m. When is the clause valid? July. How is the situation between Milan and the player? Still open.

“He’s not the only option, but they’re considering him. He’s in consideration but still not an advanced negotiation.”

Shock transfer

Romano also revealed that Man Utd are plotting a shock summer deal, with Erik ten Hag’s side now targeting a position it had been thought would not be a big priority.

“It will be a busy summer, but in the last 24-48 hours, Man Utd have started some enquiries on the market for a new midfielder,” he says. “They’re looking at the opportunities in the midfield, especially as Casemiro leaving Manchester United is still a strong possibility. They’re assessing options.

“Keep a back on left-back, centre-back, striker but also midfield.”

Chelsea still working on Olise as striker targeted

At Chelsea, meanwhile, there are parallel talks ongoing for strikers Duran and Omorodion currently, even if the Blues’ main priority lies elsewhere.

“We know that the top target as a winger is still Michael Olise, with Chelsea working on this deal, activating their best possibilities to reach a deal. They’re trying to find a deal with Olise on personal terms and then find a solution on personal terms with Crystal Palace. The priority is on the player’s side,” Romano confirmed.
