Bayern chief reveals Musiala plan amid Chelsea and Liverpool interest

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl insists that the club will do everything in their power to get Jamal Musiala to sign a new long-term contract.

The attacking midfielder has been one of the standout performers of Euro 2024 so far. Despite coming off a relatively poor season by his high standards, the 21-year-old has stolen the show for host nation Germany this summer.

His performances have, naturally, ramped up the speculation surrounding his future again. Though Musiala still has two years left on his Bayern contract, transfer rumours have abounded for months.

That is because talks over an extension have been dormant for a year. Bayern's previous regime was fired before it could agree fresh terms with the star boy and the new one has only been fully in place for a few months, with Max Eberl completing the new sporting hierarchy after joining from RB Leipzig.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern are preparing a mega new contract for Musiala and talks are set to kick into gear after the Euros.

Chelsea and Liverpool are just two of the big-name clubs keeping a close eye on Musiala's situation, but Bayern insist that the 21-year-old is not for sale. However, if the Germany star continues to shine, it will be harder and harder for the Germans to match his demands.

Nevertheless, Eberl is bullish about his club's chances of fending off the interest from abroad. "It is FC Bayern's expectation to have a good team and for this, you need good individual players," Eberl told BILD.

"Jamal is an extraordinary footballer and, what's more, he came through our academy. Therefore, he is already one of the faces of FC Bayern. We are delighted that we have him."

"Vincent [Kompany] and everybody at FC Bayern has the goal of working with Jamal for as long as possible and to have a successful time together. Other things [transfer rumours] do not concern us."

According to BILD, one of the things that will be key to Musiala's decision is whether or not he feels Bayern have a team that is good enough to win the Champions League.

The Bavarians, having just endured their first trophyless season in over a decade, are keen to ensure that they will be able to challenge for Europe's premier competition consistently. To that end, Michael Olise is on the verge of joining, while the Munich giants are also working to recruit Xavi Simons.
