Man Utd and Liverpool face race against time to sign ‘surprise’ €30m striker
Manchester United and Liverpool will have to make their minds up quickly if they want to sign Bundesliga sensation Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim at a bargain €30 million price.
Both Man Utd and the Reds have been linked with the 21-year-old Beier as they seek to bolster their attacking ranks over the summer, with the forward having just enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga.

The Hoffenheim striker scored 16 times in 33 league matches to be branded the breakout player in his role in Germany. Indeed, his exploits have earned him a call for Euro 2024.
To sign him at his well-known €30m release clause, though, Man Utd or Liverpool will have to act quickly.

Race against time for Beier
According to Kicker, who described Beier as the “surprise” player of last season, this figure expires on 30 June.
The German source explains: “In October 2023, the 21-year-old extended his Hoffenheim contract until 2027. With the option of leaving early for a sum of around €30m. Depending on the league and the size of the potential buyer, this figure varies by a small, single-digit million amount. But this release clause will need trigged by what is formally the end of the season.”
If no deal is struck by 30 June, Hoffenheim will be free to negotiate the price they want for Beier, yet a sale is still expected as the Bundesliga side are banking on making a surplus in the transfer window.
Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are the likeliest buyers from within the Bundesliga, although the decision of Benjamin Sesko to sign a new contract with the latter could jeopardise a deal in that case.
Beier has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €15.9m, yet this has risen steeply in recent months for a player Hoffenheim signed as a youth player from Energie Cottbus in 2018.
