Why Man Utd's Eze pursuit makes NO SENSE

Manchester United are reportedly interested in rivalling Tottenham Hotspur for Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze this summer.
Eze, 25, joined the Eagles from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 and has enjoyed a fantastic four-year stint at Selhurst Park, culminating in a call-up for England’s 2024 European Championship squad.
He netted 11 goals and notched four assists in 27 Premier League games last season, with his form attracting several high-profile suitors.

Tottenham are extremely interested in Eze, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, while Man Utd have now joined the race to sign him, according to The Sun.
Ange Postecoglou’s side remain in the driving seat to land the England international, but Man Utd reportedly want to make Eze a marquee signing this summer.
Eze has a €70.5 million (£60m) release clause at Palace, meaning he would become the Red Devils’ ninth most expensive signing of all time if he arrives for that price.
However, Man Utd’s pursuit of the Englishman actually makes very little sense, despite his obvious talent.

Man Utd don’t need Eberechi Eze
Eze is a fantastic player and his inclusion in England’s Euro 2024 squad was totally justified following an amazing season at Crystal Palace.
But, he isn’t a player that Man Utd really need.
His best position is undoubtedly as a No.10 and although he is more than capable of playing off the left flank, Eze is more suited to playing in the middle of the pitch.
As a result, Bruno Fernandes is an immediate roadblock to Eze. The Portuguese international is Man Utd’s captain and is one of the first names on the teamsheet in the No.10 position.
Mason Mount felt the full effect of this last season and would also represent competition for Eze. Despite all of Man Utd’s struggles, signing a new attacking midfielder isn’t needed due to the presence of Fernandes and Mount.
In addition, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are both best off the left flank, suggesting Eze would struggle to become first-choice in that position too.

The England international is a supremely gifted player, but Man Utd would be foolish to spend over €70m on a player that simply isn't needed.
A right winger, such as Eze’s Palace team-mate Michael Olise, a central midfielder and a centre-back are far more pressing issues for the Old Trafford outfit.
