Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell Karim Adeyemi for €30 million this summer, according to German media.

Ahead of the Black and Yellow's Champions League final clash with Real Madrid, sporting director Sebastian Kehl tried to rubbish claims from Sky Germany that Dortmund are open to a sale of Adeyemi this summer.

However, this was likely just a PR game to try to avoid an unwanted distraction ahead of the biggest game in club history in over a decade. Indeed, BILD now reiterates that the 22-year-old really is on the market this summer - at the right price.

It has been a pretty significant fall from grace for the erstwhile wonderkid. Linked with the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool while scoring for fun at RB Salzburg, the German youngster has failed to set the world alight since his €30m switch to Dortmund in 2022.

Though Adeyemi had his moments in the Champions League last season - terrifying PSG with his frightening pace in the semi-finals - the winger was consistently let down by poor decisions or technical shortcomings.

Dortmund want €30m

Dortmund, it is claimed, are now ready to cut their losses. According to the above-mentioned report, BVB are happy to just recoup their original outlay of €30m and unnamed Premier League clubs are said to be keen.

Selling Adeyemi would go a long way towards helping Dortmund achieve their ultimate summer goal of bringing Jadon Sancho back to the club permanently.

The Man Utd loanee penned a heartfelt goodbye message to the Black and Yellow on his social media channels on Monday: "I want to thank everyone involved at such an amazing club. I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me back the way you all have during these last 6 months."

"Thank you to Edin Terzic, Sebastian Kehl and Hans-Joachim Watzke for believing in me and bringing me back. Finally a special thank you to the BVB fans. Your support is amazing and I’m forever thankful for you all!"

However, Dortmund and the player too are keen to ensure that this goodbye won't be forever. Though Sancho is willing to return to Man Utd under a new manager - as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers last October - he is also open to joining Dortmund long-term.

At this point, though, Dortmund simply can't afford the winger and their first priority is making Ian Maatsen's move from Chelsea permanent. The Athletic's transfer expert David Ornstein recently reiterated that, as things stand, Dortmund will only be able to keep Sancho around via another loan.

The sale of Adeyemi, however, could drastically change the situation. An extra €30m from the German's exit and a fee in a similar region for wantaway forward Donyell Malen could enable Dortmund to make a serious attempt for Sancho.
