Man Utd outcast Greenwood AGREES to join major club amid shock hijack attempt
Mason Greenwood has said “yes” to joining Juventus from Manchester United this summer, but there remains a major stumbling block for the forward to get over if a transfer is to be completed.
Greenwood has spent the last season in exile from Man Utd at Getafe following an internal investigation into his private life. Although criminal charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling behaviour and assault were dropped, the Old Trafford club elected to loan him out.
The long-term future of the 22-year-old forward, who maintained his innocence with regard the charges levelled at him, remains uncertain.

A permanent move appears to be likely, with Greenwood having agreed to personal terms with Serie A giants Juventus, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
There is, however, a problem in that Man Utd have not yet accepted an offer from the Bianconeri.
“Greenwood is one of Juventus’ major targets but they do not yet have the financial strength to close the operation,” Gazzetta states.

Man Utd want €35-40 million for Greenwood, the Italian report indicates, but this is considered to be too great a figure for a player whose contract will expire in 2025.
A swap deal is being considered, with Samuel Iling Jr and Federico Chiesa major players who could be moving in the opposite direction. Chiesa, whose contract in 2025, is considered to be one to watch in particular.
Although Gazzetta stresses that Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are set to be the major challengers for Greenwood, there is a new contender for the Man Utd forward.
Benfica make Greenwood move
Benfica are attracted to the striker, according to a report from Record.
The Portuguese giants should not be discounted from this race. It is stated that sporting director Rui Pedro Braz has already travelled to Madrid to meet with the player.
This report confirms that Greenwood’s future is “yet to be decided”.
With clubs circling, it appears that the forward’s next steps are in Man Utd’s hands.
