The Red Devils have still not made a decision on the future of Erik ten Hag. Two weeks after the FA Cup final, the Dutchman is still in limbo regarding his position, though a final resolution is expected in the next few days.

However, the drawn-out nature of this process has already led to some complications. Man Utd's transfer business has been pretty much on halt so far because of a lack of clarity over who will be in the dugout next season.

Talks with Thomas Tuchel have come to nothing, with the German walking away from the negotiations feeling that he needs to take a break from coaching. Kieran McKenna spurned a return to Old Trafford to sign a new contract with Ipswich.

Roberto de Zerbi has reportedly been contacted, but as long as Ten Hag has not officially been sacked, precious little will develop on that front. Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is also in the frame, and the Argentine has some high-profile supporters at Man Utd.

Ferguson wants Pochettino

At least that's according to HITC, which claims that legendary Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is pushing for new co-owners INEOS to appoint the ex-Tottenham and Blues coach.

It is asserted that Ferguson and Pochettino have a good relationship and that the Argentine was under consideration prior to Ten Hag's hire in 2022. The 52-year-old is said to be keen on the job.

INEOS supremo Sir Jim Ratcliffe is, of course, also no stranger to Pochettino. The tactician was an option for the billionaire's Ligue 1 side Nice in 2022. Recently, it was claimed that Ratcliffe had decided to sell the French club to prevent complications in UEFA competitions and to focus solely on Man Utd.

It remains to be seen if Ferguson's lobbying for Pochettino will end in success.
