Man Utd Transfer News Today: PSG RIVALS for Neves, POSITIVE Greenwood talks, Rashford INTEREST
Manchester United’s transfer window was slow to start, but is gradually beginning to build some momentum. Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford are both in the spotlight, while a £27 million deal is coming close to fruition.
Greenwood remains one of the stories of the summer. The forward is set to leave Man Utd but his exact destination is not yet clear.
After a string of big continental clubs have chased him, it is Marseille who are now emerging as potential favourites to land the once-capped England international.
David Ornstein has revealed that the Ligue 1 side are keen to hook Greenwood up with former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, with talks beginning “positively” over a transfer.

PSG to rival Man Utd for Joao Neves transfer
Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Benfica midfielder Joao Neves, rivalling Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United in the chase, The Transfers Podcast understands.
Neves, 19, is already a full Portugal international and is currently with Roberto Martinez’s squad as they prepare for a Euro 2024 knockout match against Slovenia.
He featured in two group stage matches, appearing from the bench in the 3-0 win against Turkey and playing 75 minutes during the Selecao’s final group game against Georgia.
Neves played 55 matches in total for Benfica last season, including six in the Champions League.
It is understood that Manchester United have already made a bid for the homegrown midfield orchestrator while Arsenal also retain an interest.
Benfica have a strong track record of extracting maximum value for their players, as evidenced by the recent sales of Darwin Nunez and Enzo Fernandez to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. Neves has a €120 million release clause in his current deal.
Though he signed an improved deal in August which runs to 2028, Neves is understood to have rejected Benfica’s attempts to secure him to a further revised contract which would have doubled his salary to €1m net.
“That gives you an idea of how some of the costs can be saved on signing a player of his age because the basic salary is low for a player of his ability,” says Transfers Podcast host Duncan Castles.
Portuguese sources indicate that Benfica are seeking a transfer fee of €100m to sell Neves this summer. PSG do not want to go that high.
Man Utd hold PSG talks over multiple players
Man Utd are in talks with PSG over a potential deal for Manuel Ugarte, but also other players, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano says he’s not in a position to give specifics, but he has revealed that the Red Devils’ interest in PSG players extends beyond Ugarte.
“All I can say for now is that I’m told they discussed several opportunities, including Ugarte who’s appreciated by Man United. No bid has been sent yet, but interest is genuine. The relationship between the two clubs is very good, so let’s see what happens with Ugarte and if any other players get involved too,” he wrote on the Daily Briefing.
“United know that several players like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen could be on the move this summer, while they still have to decide what they want to do with the future of on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, and so midfield is an area they’re looking at, and Ugarte is one name they appreciate.”
Ugarte has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €31.4 million.

Rashford linked with PSG switch
Marcus Rashford could leave Man Utd for PSG this summer, with this old rumour resurfacing following Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid.
TalkSport claims that Les Parisiens will consider a move for Rashford during the transfer window if they receive encouragement that the player is open to a deal.
PSG have long been associated with Rashford, yet following his disappointing season at Man Utd and the emergence of Bradley Barcola at Parc des Princes, it would be surprising if they were to move for him at this juncture.

De Ligt still a major target
Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is still a target for Man Utd, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany reports.
"Understand Matthijs de Ligt remains a transfer target for Manchester United this summer as revealed and confirmed again!" he tweets.
"The 24-year-old is one of many names being discussed internally alongside Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro.
"Erik ten Hag is still a great admirer of De Ligt who can leave Bayern this summer with a suitable offer. No offer from Man Utd yet. Concrete talks between Bayern and De Ligt will take place after the Euros.
"Price valuation from Man Utd for De Ligt is around €50m at this stage."
Ten Hag set to sign contract
Erik ten Hag is close to signing a new three-year contract with Man Utd that is worth £27 million to him, the Mirror reports.
Ten Hag had been expected to be sacked from the role this summer, yet INEOS have decided to keep faith with the Dutchman and reward him for their FA Cup success with a one-year contract extension.
It is stated that he has already agreed to a deal in principle.
