Man Utd are considering a move for Mexican star Edson Alvarez as they look to beef up their squad for the 2024-25 Premier League season.

The Red Devils are seriously considering acquiring a new midfielder, in the likely event that fading Brazilian star Casemiro exits Old Trafford this summer.

According to ace transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, there is a new name on the table, in the shape of Alvarez, who has a big fan apparently in United boss Erik ten Hag.

Any deal will not be easy for two reasons though. West Ham consider him a very important part of their future, while United of course are operating with a somewhat limited transfer budget this summer.

Mason Greenwood agrees shock Spanish transfer

Mason Greenwood has agreed personal terms for what would be a surprise move to La Liga strugglers Valencia.

Following on from The Athletic’s reports that Valencia are interested in Greenwood, reports in Spain go further and claim that the England attacker has agreed a contract with Valencia.

However, there is a long way to go before a transfer goes through as Man Utd are demanding around €50-60 million to sell Greenwood. This is a fee that Valencia simply won’t and can’t pay.

Greenwood is certain to leave Old Trafford this summer.

He joined Getafe on loan last summer after Manchester United concluded their investigation into the criminal charges he was facing last year, which have since been dropped.

Romano on Man Utd pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee

Man Utd are looking to do a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the situation is not as advanced as has been suggested elsewhere.

AC Milan are still in the lead for the Netherlands hitman, but the Red Devils are making enquiries.

Taking to YouTube, Romano said: “I can confirm the situation on Joshua Zirkzee. AC Milan remain the favourites in this story. They agreed almost everything with him in terms of the player side. They’ve told Bologna that they’re willing to pay the release clause of the player, €40m. But they don’t have the agreement of Zirkzee’s agent on the commission.

“Milan are still in control of the deal on the player’s side but they don’t have the agreement of the agent.

“Meanwhile, other clubs are entering the race. There are not so many strikers available on the market for that price. This is why, if Milan want to close the deal, they’ll have to be fast.

“Manchester United have made an inquiry to Zirkzee to understand how the deal will work. How much is the clause? €40m. When is the clause valid? July. How is the situation between Milan and the player? Still open.

“He’s not the only option, but they’re considering him. He’s in consideration but still not an advanced negotiation.”

Michael Olise no-go for Man Utd with Chelsea favourites

Manchester United are not willing to trigger Michael Olise's €70 million release clause, according to a report.

The Crystal Palace star is facing crucial days and weeks regarding his future. Chelsea, Man Utd and, as revealed by FootballTransfers, Liverpool are battling for Olise's signature and things are constantly moving behind the scenes.

Chelsea have received formal permission from Crystal Palace to speak to the player as they look for a way to acquire him, while Man Utd and Liverpool are not yet quite as advanced in their pursuit of the player.

Indeed, Man Utd have faced a major hurdle in their bid to get their hands on the 22-year-old. Only last week did they finally decide to keep Erik ten Hag on board, which at last gave everyone involved with the club some clarity regarding the future.

The drawn-out nature of the process, however, meant that Man Utd were unable to turn their interest in one of Ten Hag's top targets into a concrete approach despite the fact that Sir Jim Ratcliffe greenlit a move for Olise as one of the first orders of business when he acquired a minority stake in the club.

Man Utd also face the problem of yet again having to deal with a restricted budget despite Ratcliffe's investment, with some outlets going so far as to claim that the Red Devils only have about €55m-€60m to spend.

The fact that Man Utd can't splash the cash has already been evident in the way they have gone about their pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite, trying to lowball Everton with an opening offer of around half of the Toffees' asking price.

Jonathan David the latest target as Man Utd seek forward boost

Manchester United have made contact with Jonathan David's camp, according to a report.

United are in for a big summer transfer window, though things have thus far not panned out quite as expected. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's acquisition of a minority stake was supposed to make the Red Devils shrewder and more ruthless in the market, but they have been slow to get their business kickstarted.

A lot of it has been down to the fact that it took them more than two weeks to come to a decision on the future of manager Erik ten Hag, ultimately opting to keep him. Though there is now finally clarity, valuable time has been lost, with Chelsea stealing a march on them in the chase for top target Michael Olise.

Nevertheless, they are also looking at potential alternatives, with i news now reporting that Man Utd have made contact with Lille striker David, who is expected to depart the Ligue 1 side this summer.

Lille president Olivier Letang announced last week that David and fellow Man Utd target Leny Yoro would be allowed to leave the club due to only having a year left on their contracts.

United are likely to face competition from several Premier League clubs though, including Tottenham.
