Man Utd’s first signing of the transfer window ‘INEVITABLE’ as Ten Hag ‘DELIGHTED’ with deal

Manchester United have been told their first signing of the summer transfer window is “inevitable”.

Erik ten Hag is seeking to improve his Man Utd squad in a number of areas this summer, with a centre-forward, a central midfielder, a centre-back and a full-back all earmarked to arrive.

But the Dutchman also wants to bolster his backroom team, and it is in this area where the Manchester Evening News reports that the Old Trafford club will strike first after what has been a slow beginning to the window.

Rene Hake is poised to arrive from Eredivisie outfit Go Ahead Eagles, with the local paper indicating that it is simply a matter of time before the deal is agreed.

It reports: “Our sources have indicated that Hake’s arrival is inevitable, and reports in the Netherlands that say players have been told of his exit seems to point in the same direction, despite the formalities not yet being carried out.

“There is a possibility that two managers who coached Eredivisie teams - Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy - join Ten Hag’s backroom staff, in what is an interesting move. What that says about the Dutch league itself is for others to conclude but United fans will hope too many cooks don’t spoil the already-lukewarm broth.”

Ten Hag agrees new contract

HITC, meanwhile, indicates that Ten Hag has finalised his new contract at Man Utd, which will be announced “shortly” by the club.

Following the doubt over his future following a poor Premier League campaign, Ten Hag, who survived a two-week end-of-season review, made it clear to the board he wanted a new contract as a show of faith in his management.

It is reported that the former Ajax boss is “delighted” with the agreement, which he had wanted in place before the start of the season.
